Question of The Day
Your brain tells your body how to react to certain situations. What you think is shown in your body language. Actors exaggerate their gestures in order to show exactly what they're feeling. The actor's hand is very conscious and constantly moving to show emotion. For example, when the hand gesture is applause, the actor is showing happiness of another's accomplishment by clapping. For example, when the hand gesture is begging, the actor is showing desperation because he or she wants something from someone else.

Reflection
I really liked reading all the feedback given to me, especially what the judges said. The only thing I need to work on is speaking louder, which is hard for me because I get really nervous in front of audiences. Others liked my repetition, how I presented with emotion, and the subject of my poem. Doing a poetry slam was odd for me because I had never done one before. I hardly ever wrote poetry, so reading it out loud was weird. Seeing the people in the spoken word videos made me realize that I needed to put emotion into my poem. It was a lot different then just presenting a project, just reading words.

SOC
I'm walking in the museum
Sculptures, paintings surround me
People point excitedly at the art
But one stands out the most
The girl in the picture approaches
me
She stares daggers into my eyes
She points her finger at me
Luring me to join her
She promises me adventures
I am tempted to come
But I hesitate
What will I tell my family and friends
Will they even miss me
I say no thank you
She cries, and begs me to return
She screams louder than a crying baby
She jumps out and tries to grab me
I run faster than the speed of light
She catches up, pushing everyone out of the way
No ever leaves me, she cries
I stop, trying catch my breath
She puts a paper bag over me head
And takes me away
The town in the picture is pretty
So many trees and flowers
The sky and the clouds are stunning
Everyone looks so nice
They wave, but I can't wave back
I can't seem to move
I am frozen in place
I wake up to find myself underwater
Get me out of here, I yell
Somebody help me
I stop breathing
My eyes close
All I see is dark
Free Verse #2
The beast was there mocking me
I was scared like a horror movie victim
My friends tell me I'm a wimp
That I should be strong enough to handle this
The rollercoaster was threatening me with its teeth
The beast was there, mocking me
The rollercoaste was a killer, hunting me down
I shouldn't have come here
But it's too late to turn back
Waiting in line
is approaching death
The beast was there, mocking me
My friends ignore me
They only want to see me cry
I want to leave, disappear
But the crowd is too much
The beast was there, mocking me
I hear their screams of terror
Are they scared
Are they having fun
I guess I'll find out soon
The beast was there, mocking me
I think about the consequences
Will my seatbelts come off
Will I be stuck upside down
Ten more minutes, the employee says
The beast was there, mocking me
I'm scared, a little kid cries
I won't let you on there, the mom assures
I look up at how talk the beast is
It touches the sky, towering over the clouds
While I'm up there, I could say hello
The beast was there, mocking me
The ride is going at the speed of light
Zoom! Zoom! The riders experience yhe first drop
I start to panic, my palms sweat
Take your seat, the employee tells me
The beast was there, mocking me
The rollercoaster was exciting, the wind in my face
I held on the handlebars for breath
The rush, exhilaration I crave
The wind in my hair
But would I do it again
Elegy
He was so young, so full of potential
He asked for help, but why didn't it work
The singer with the beautiful voice, gone forever
But he didn't disappear
He took the midnight train going anywhere
He was a star that guided people home
Showed them light when they couldn't see
You danced your way into our hearts
And never left
It happened long ago, but we never forgot
When we watch, we think of you
When we don't watch, we think of you
I didn't know him, but I bet he was nice
She wrote about you
She still loves you too
Do you ever wonder about her
Was she in your final thoughts
You tall, handome fellow
Why did you leave so soon
It wasn't your time yet
The day you left, was a cold one
It was dark, and instincts told me something was wrong
The news broke and the world cried
There is no happy ending, no closure
Limerick
There once was a girl named Tina
Who dreamed of being a butt-touching ballerina
And Jimmy Jr. was her lover
But their relationship was undercover
So he left for her sister Lina
Ballad
I'm sorry I disappointed you
I hear your voice in my head
Telling me I'm not good enough
Everytime I need a hug
Your touch is always cold as snow
I'm sorry I disappointed you
You're never happy to see me
You frown and your wrinkles show
You are an evil queen who's out to get me
I'm sorry I disappointed you
You love to point out my flaws
From how I smell like a hot summer's day
From how my cooking leaves a bad taste in your mouth
I'm sorry I disappointed you
I'm a worker bee who is worked too hard
I'm an ant, constantly being stepped on
You don't understand me
I'm sorry I disappointed you
You put your needs above mine
You're so stubborn, you'll never change
Which is why I'm going away
Haikus
-Rain-
Clouds cry, green trees grow
SPLASH, Shoes running to shelter
But I stay outside
-Summer- (extra credit)
Waves crash on the sand
Birds flying past the hot sun
Building sandcastles

Ode to My Sweater
In winter
we are attached
like two peas in a pod
You never let me down
You keep me warmer than the sun
You are abused constantly
You are lost and thrown around
torn, crushed like a damaged can
You stay on a hnger
Waiting patiently
To be noticed
But you never leave me
Many others are like you
But you are mine
which makes you special
You are one in a kind
Everyday
I hold you in my arms
as we embrace
and stay together
side by side
forever
we are attached
like two peas in a pod
You never let me down
You keep me warmer than the sun
You are abused constantly
You are lost and thrown around
torn, crushed like a damaged can
You stay on a hnger
Waiting patiently

Her & Him
Her
I walked down a smooth, short, spacious street
The wind above me goes whoosh, whoosh
I was looking for a purpose, but I found a soulmate instead
Handsome, hardworking, happy: him
He's so scorching he could burn the sun
Him
Zoom, zoom my engine goes
I'm about to leave this town, until I look out the window
I've finally found what I've been looking for
Honest, hopeful, hilarious: her
She's so beautiful supermodels would be jealous
Her
I have met him before, I'm sure
Him
She always appears in my dreams
Her
I want to know if he is the one
Him
I need to go after her before it's too late
Her
Excuse me sir, I say
Him
Come with me, I respond
Her
Definitely, I whisper

Blog Post # 10: 2 in 1
No, I don't think general ed and special ed should be combined in the same classroom. Both types of students are learning different things and have different needs. Combining the two would be chaotic.Special ed students may be distracting to general ed students who are learning subjects on their grade level. Some general ed students may be not tolerant with special ed students and may be irritating. Plus, special ed students shouldn't be cramped in a small room, they should have a wide open space. You can't learn how to cook and clean with many other students in the way. How could the general ed students concentrate with all the tasty food? The separation of general ed and special ed students doesn't seem to have any problems, so why change it?

Tutoring
Today, I got the opportunity to help special ed students. At first I was nervous because I have never worked with mentally handicapped students before, so I was almost going to back out. Throughout the experience, I observed that these kids are just like us, with similar likes and dislikes and having normal conversations. I actually talked to a student who watched Glee, just like me! Also, the cinnamon rolls were delicious. I can't cook, so I thought is was really cool that the kids helped bake them.I would definitely like to do this again. Doing this made me realize that I should be grateful for what I have, because even though I have my own problems, there are many that have it worse.
It also made my appreciate all of Mrs. Hine's work, because it must be hard managing all of them, even though there aren't very many of them. I am unsure of what career I want to pursue, and I think working with kids is now a possibility. In the end, I was actually sad to leave. I liked how the student I was talking to remembered my name, because most people I talk to for the first time forget.

New Year's Resolution/2nd Semester Goals
Every year, I make many New Years Resolutions. I always tell myself that in the upcoming year, I will change myself for the better. Most of the time, those resolutions never happen because I do not make the effort and am usually too lazy. I convince myself that I don't need to change myself because I am already amazing. So, here are my 2014 resolutions, which are usually the same every year. I want to eat healthier and exercise more because I am getting out of shape. I should procrastinate less, because I hate not going to bed because I am stalling on something I should've done earlier. I would watch less TV, because I usually watch instead of being productive. Same goes for going on the internet and playing with my iPod, because usually those make my head hurt.
Now onto my second semester goals, which are very similar to my resolutions. I want to maintain my good grades, especially in WHAP. I want to read the WHAP book more often so I can retain the information, but not all of my goals are centered around WHAP. In general, I want to ask my teachers more questions when I don't understand the topic. I am too embarrassed to raise my hand, especially since the rest of the students seem to understand.
